ATP binding cassette transporter G5 (ABCG5) and ATP binding cassette transporter G8 (ABCG8) have been suggested to transport absorbed plant sterols and cholesterol from enterocytes to the intestinal lumen and from hepatocytes to bile. It has been thought that mutations of ABCG5 or ABCG8 cause the deposition of plant sterols in the body. In the present study, lymphatic absorption of various plant sterols and their deposition in various tissues was investigated in stroke-prone spontaneously hypertensive rats (SHRSP), having a mutation in Abcg5 and depositing plant sterols in the body. The order of lymphatic 24-h recovery of plant sterols was as follows: campesterol > sitosterol > brassicasterol > stigmasterol = sitostanol. When SHRSP were fed a diet containing one of the plant sterols, the depositions of campesterol and sitosterol were comparatively higher than those of brassicasterol, stigmasterol and sitostanol. Highly positive correlations were obtained between lymphatic recovery of plant sterols and their levels in plasma, liver, adipose tissue and heart. The tendency of differential absorption of plant sterols to the lymph in SHRSP was similar to that in normal Wistar rats previously reported by us (Hamada et al. Lipids 41:551–556, 2006). These observations suggest that differential absorption of various plant sterols is kept in SHRSP in spite of a mutation in Abcg5.  相似文献

In order to improve the countercurrent flow model of a transient analysis code, countercurrent air-water tests were previously conducted using a 1/15 scale model of the PWR hot leg and numerical simulations of the tests were carried out using the two-fluid model implemented in the CFD software FLUENT 6.3.26. The predicted flow patterns and CCFL characteristics agreed well with the experimental data. However, the validation of the interfacial drag correlation used in the two-fluid model was still insufficient, especially regarding the applicability to actual PWR conditions. In this study, we measured water levels and wave heights in the 1/15 scale setup to understand the characteristics of the interfacial drag, and we considered a relationship between the wave height and the interfacial drag coefficient. Numerical simulations to examine the effects of cell size and interfacial drag correlations on numerical predictions were conducted under PWR plant conditions. Wave heights strongly related with the water level and interfacial drag coefficient, which indicates that the interfacial drag force mainly consists of form drag. The cell size affected the gas velocity at the onset of flooding in the process of increasing gas flow rate. The gas volumetric fluxes at CCFL predicted using fine cells were higher than those using normal cells. On the other hand, the cell size did not have a significant influence on the process of decreasing gas flow rate. The predictions for the PWR condition using a reference set of interfacial drag correlations agreed well with the Upper Plenum Test Facility data of the PWR scale experiment in the region of medium gas volumetric fluxes. The reference interfacial drag correlations employed in this study can be applied to the PWR conditions.  相似文献

The problem of recovery from power‐system failures is the problem of handling operations that make it possible to supply power from other lines in response to power‐system failures or construction by switching between the opened and closed states of sectionalizing switches. Considerable research has already been conducted with regard to this issue. This paper addresses the issue of determining target systems for final recovery in cases when some sections remain subject to power failure (i.e., sound bank capacity < load capacity). For this purpose, intersection is conducted only for parameters within such power‐failure sections. In such research, calculations are implemented by setting a value of 2 to the sectionalizing switches of a single parameter. In addition, when the state of a sound section changes due to mutation improvements, the method of simultaneously changing the selected points and neighboring sectionalizing switches is applied. It is clear that the proposed method, consisting of conventional GA only, is superior in terms of average fitness values. © 2011 Wiley Periodicals, Inc. We introduce a novel three-step procedure for precise niobium (Nb)-etching on the nanometer-scale, including the design of high contrast resist patterning and sacrifice layer formation under high radio frequency (RF) power. We present the results of precise slit fabrication using this technique and discuss its application for the production of superconducting devices, such as superconductor-semiconductor-superconductor (S-Sm-S) Josephson junctions. For the reactive ion etching (RIE) of Nb, we selected CF(4) as etchant gas and a positive tone resist to form the etching mask. We found that the combination of resist usage and RIE process allows for etching of thicker Nb layers when utilizing the opposite dependence of the etching rate (ER) on the CF(4) pressure in the case of Nb as compared to the resist. Precise slit-width control of 80 and 200 nm thick Nb apertures was performed with three kinds of ER control, for the resist, the Nb, and the underlying layer. S-Sm-S Josephson junctions were fabricated with lengths as small as 80 nm, which can be considered clean and short and thus exhibit critical currents as high as 50 μA. Moreover, possible further applications, such as for apertures of superconducting light emitting diodes (SC LEDs), are addressed.  相似文献

In order to estimate the adsorbability by activated carbon of organic compounds dissolved in aqueous solutions, the contribution of individual atoms to the adsorption process is calculated. The contribution of carbon, bromine and chlorine atoms is positive, that of oxygen atoms is negative, that of hydrogen atoms is very small and that of nitrogen atoms is influenced by the kind of functional group in which they are contained. The dominant factors governing adsorption are the numbers of carbon and oxygen atoms in a molecule. The activated carbon's effectiveness for adsorption of organic compounds dissolved in solutions can be predicted from such water quality indexes as total organic carbon, total organic nitrogen, total organic halogen an total oxygen demand.  相似文献

HyperCoal is an ultra clean coal with ash content <0.05 wt%. Catalytic steam gasification of HyperCoal was carried out with K2CO3 at 775–650 °C for production of H2 rich gas and synthesis gas. The catalytic gasification of HyperCoal showed nearly four times higher gasification rate than raw coal. The major gases evolved were H2: 63 vol%, CO: 6 vol% and CO2: 30 vol%. Catalyst was recycled for four times without any significant rate loss. The partial pressure of steam was varied from 0.5 atm to 0.05 atm in order to investigate the effect of steam pressure on H2/CO ratio. The H2/CO ratio decreased from 9.5 at 0.5 atm to 1.9 at 0.05 atm. No significant decrease in gasification rate was observed due to change in partial pressure of steam. Gasification rate decreased with decreasing temperature and become very slow at 650 °C. The preliminary results showed that HyperCoal, an ash less coal, could be a potential hydrocarbon resource for H2 and synthesis gas production at low temperature by catalytic steam gasification process.  相似文献

This study compared the potential of an aqueous extract of an edible mushroom (Flammulina velutipes) to prevent melanosis in cultured Kuruma shrimp (Marsupenaeus japonicus) with other antimelanosic compounds in vivo. The mushroom extract contained 9.1 mg/mL ergothioneine (ESH). Immersion of live full-grown shrimp in a 0.5% w/v solution of mushroom extract significantly reduced PPO activity in shrimp hemolymph. In addition, expression of the prophenoloxidase (proPO) gene decreased in hemocytes, suggesting that the extract blocked the activation of the proPO cascade. Consequently, the development of melanosis in the treated shrimp was significantly suppressed during ice storage. Treatment with a 0.05% w/v solution of sodium ascorbate and 4-hexyl-1,3-benzenediol had the same effect. In vitro experiments showed that ESH effectively inhibited PPO activity and activation of the proPO cascade in hemocyte lysate supernatant. This study suggests that in vivo application of F. velutipes mushroom extract is an effective natural alternative to synthetic antimelanosic agents to inhibit postmortem melanosis in shrimp. Practical Application: The extract of an edible mushroom (F. velutipes) containing ergothioneine can be a promising natural alternative to synthetic antimelanosic agents used to prevent postharvest melanosis in shrimp and other crustaceans. Furthermore, utilization of the mushroom trimmings could also help address the growing concerns on the disposal of such agricultural wastes and instead use it into a novel purpose as a source of antimelanosic and antioxidants for food and industrial application.  相似文献

The homeoprotein EGAM1C was identified in preimplantation mouse embryos and embryonic stem (ES) cells. To explore the impact of EGAM1C on the hallmarks of mouse ES cells, MG1.19 cells stably expressing EGAM1C at levels similar to those in blastocysts were established using an episomal expression system. In the presence of leukemia inhibitory factor (+LIF), control transfectants with an empty vector formed flattened cell colonies, while Egam1c transfectants formed compacted colonies with increased E-CADHERIN expression. In Egam1c transfectants, the cellular contents of POU5F1 (OCT4), SOX2, TBX3, and NANOG increased. Cell growth was accelerated in an undifferentiated state sustained by LIF and in the course of differentiation. During clonal proliferation, EGAM1C stabilized the undifferentiated state. In adherent culture conditions, EGAM1C partly inhibited the progression of differentiation at least within a 4-day culture period in the presence of retinoic acid by preventing the downregulation of LIF signaling with a robust increase in TBX3 expression. Conversely, EGAM1C enhanced the expression of lineage marker genes Fgf5 (epiblast), T (mesoderm), Gata6 (primitive endoderm), and Cdx2 (trophectoderm) in -LIF conditions. In embryoid bodies expressing EGAM1C, the expression of marker genes for extraembryonic cell lineages, including Tpbpa (spongiotrophoblast) and Plat (parietal endoderm), increased. These results demonstrated that the ectopic expression of EGAM1C is capable of affecting the stabilization of an undifferentiated state and the progression of differentiation in MG1.19 ES cells, in addition to affecting cellular morphology and growth.  相似文献
